Val's Victory Garden
History of Our Farm
Having had a home garden for years, in 2009, we expanded it to give our kids an opportunity to learn about gardening, growing, and eating fresh produce without chemicals.
It is interesting to see the vegetables grow and allow the children to experience the growing and harvesting.
We are currently selling seasonal produce at Dave’s and Farmers Markets. Marty takes a bit to Chicago restaurants for us too. In the years to come, as our children grow, we hope we can grow larger amounts to supply more people and chefs with fresh, homegrown goodness.
Our Family
Our family includes us, Mike & Val, and our children:
Emma, 8
Carson, 6
Dylan, 5
Our Products
We grow asparagus, rhubarb, beans, radishes, potatoes, peppers, squash, heirloom tomatoes (Pink Ponderosa), orange watermelon, beets, lettuce, Jerusalem artichokes.
Currently, we are selling seasonal produce at Dave’s Supermarket in Fairbury and Farmers Markets. A little bit is also sold to Chicago restaurants. In the years to come, as our children grow, we hope we can grow larger amounts to supply more people and chefs with fresh, homegrown goodness.
