Eden's Harvest Farm
History of
Our Farm
“Eden’s Harvest Farm” is an eleven-year dream come true with God’s hand
in its’ fruition. Both
Thomas and Janet were born in Chicago, raised in the suburbs, made it to
the country, rural Blackstone, in the year 2000.
This after 11 years of marriage and the blessing of a daughter, 5
years of age at the time of the move.
Now, growing in experience each year, we are still on the venture of
growing vegetables using organic methods.
In 2003 we started raising alpacas too.
In the past, we have sold from our farm and Dwight Main Street Market.
We joined “Stewards of the Land, LLC” in 2007 because of its’
mutual goal. It has been a
blessing, increasing our sales opportunities to Dave’s Market in
Fairbury, County Market in Pontiac, Freshpicks in Niles, and Frontera
Restaurant in Chicago.
There are prospects of expanding sales more.
Our daughter has been selling her homemade zucchini bread and muffins
for a few years. This year,
she wants to venture in raising chickens as meat birds and layers.
As a home schooling family this is exciting.
“Our goal is to glorify God in everything we do.”
Produce
We Have Grown
We grow a wide variety of vegetables including
green onions, radishes, lettuces, greens, broccoli, cauliflower, herbs,
tomatoes, beets, kohlrabi, summer & winter squash and more! The
varieties are chosen for flavor, not extended shelf life or ability to
endure rough handling by specialized picking and processing equipment.
Although we are not certified organic, we grow
our vegetables using only natural methods.
We use no synthetically produced fertilizers or pesticides.
Ours is high quality produce that is grown locally without
polluting the environment. Our produce is picked ripe today and is on
our customers’ tables tonight or tomorrow.
